Many of our country's "leaders" don't want real change. "More drilling is the answer," they say. But we know that our future needs a progressive vision with long-term solutions and realistic strategies for achieving it.
So we're thrilled to announce that Van Jones, an advocate for social justice and shared green prosperity, will join us in Austin for a Sunday morning keynote on eco-equality.
Van has worked tirelessly to combine solutions to two of America’s biggest problems: social inequality and environmental destruction. He founded Green for All, which fights both poverty and pollution by advocating for local, state and federal commitment to green job creation, particularly in disadvantaged communities. And last year, he worked successfully with Speaker Nancy Pelosi to pass the Green Jobs Act of 2007, which authorized millions in funding for green-collar job training.
Van has been one of the most influential forces in the environmental movement, championing green-collar opportunities for everyone, regardless of race or economic status or age. It's an approach that echoes our own belief that people of every age, background, and economic bracket, representing numerous points of view, have equal access and abundant opportunities.
